Hand to Hand Hand to Hand

Hand to Hand is a new program that WARP is beginning.  WARP makes connections between textile artisans worldwide to promote positive social change.  The idea behind this initiative is to link fiber-centered organizations in the United States and abroad for their mutual benefit and support. In the past WARP members in this Country have sponsored an international textile organization by funding a $ 40.00 WARP sister membership which includes a subscription to the WARP Newsletter.  The intent of Hand to Hand is to go deeper and to become more personal. 

A weaving or knitting or basketry guild or group may, for instance, connect with a textile cooperative in Bolivia or a group in India, establish communication, exchange photos, and go on to decide how each might support the other.

If you know of an international textile arts group that could benefit from connecting with a WARP group, please send complete contact information to info@weavearealpeace.org, including group name, contact name, mailing address, email address, phone, and web site if available. A sentence or two about the group, and how you know them, would be helpful.  The group will then be asked some questions about themselves and their work, which will be presented in the Newsletter and on the website, so WARP members and their related groups can consider working with them.  If you are a member of a U.S.-based fiber group that would like to participate in Hand to Hand, please contact Judy Allen at info@weavearealpeace.org for guidelines.
As Hand to Hand begins to function, we will feature these connections in the WARP newsletter and keep you posted and inspired by members providing long-distance support.
