WARP's 2008 Annual Meeting

Save the date! March 7-9, 2008

When WARP started in 1992, our ideal was to have a face-to-face meeting each year to gather together those who share our passion and work in supporting textile artisans in communities-in-need. WARP's activities extend beyond this now, but the annual meeting remains the most significant WARP-sponsored program -- an unparalleled opportunity to learn, network, share resources and contacts, and provide encouragement and support to each another.

You can take part in this memorable event by reserving now to attend WARP's 2008 Annual Meeting from March 7-9, 2008 at Casey Conference Center, Whidby Island, Washington.

What will our weekend together feature?

We'll hear a presentation by Liz Gipson, managing editor of Interweave Press. Layne Goldsmith, fibers professor at University of Washington, and her business partner, Rachel Meginnes, will tell us about their Nepalese rug weaving fair trade business. Handwoven magazine editor Madelyn van der Hoogt will invite us into The Weaver's School in Coupeville. We are also launching the WARP Special Interest Groups (SIGs), including those focusing on Fair Trade and Marketing. More speakers and field trips will be announced as soon as confirmed.

Some weekend activities have become tradition -- Friday night introductions, to appreciate the talent and experience among our membership; the lively, silent auction of gently used ethnic textiles from around the world (a fundraiser for WARP); and, the popular marketplace featuring products from many of the groups supported by WARP members.

Camp Casey is about two and a half hours away from Seattle Airport (including a ferry ride). Click here for information on the conference facility. Camp Casey borders on two miles of Puget Sound Beach, available for hiking and beachcombing. A five-minute walk takes you to Fort Casey State Park, where you can climb the lighthouse for a view of Puget Sound. Camp Casey is three miles from Coupeville and a short ferry ride away from Port Townsend.

The weekend costs $195 (including room, board, and meeting registration), for registration up until January 10.

Please download and print the registration form here.

We look forward to having your company at this inspiring and energizing weekend with the extraordinary members of WARP.
